Elevating, empowering, and engaging are essential components of a successful education system. Elevating students involves challenging them to reach high expectations and standards in order to realize their full potential and providing opportunities to excel academically and personally. Empowering students means giving them the skills and tools they need to succeed in life, such as critical thinking, problem- solving, and effective communication. Engaging is crucial to help students stay motivated and interested in learning. Teachers, interpreters, and educational institutions can foster engagement by creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, using innovative teaching methods, and facilitating student participation. By prioritizing these three concepts (elevate, empower, and engage), we can create a more effective and equitable education system that prepares students for a bright future.
The goal of a bright future in deaf education is why our conference theme focuses on elevating, empowering, and engaging professionals involved with teacher preparation programs in continuing the dialogue that often happens at ACE-DHH. It is imperative for education stakeholders to come together and engage in the dialogue of ideas, methods, and innovative approaches. This conference will have three strands:
● Elevate: Addressing Challenges Facing the Deaf Education Field
● Empower: Focusing on Democratic Education, Social Justice, and Social-
Emotional Collaborative Practices
● Engage: Preparing Teachers, Interpreters, and Stakeholders to Engage with
Future Students
